I Valdesi

Il movimento dei valdesi, il cui nome deriva dal fondatore Valdo, un mercante di Lione, si sviluppò nel 12° secolo e si caratterizzò per il tentativo di seguire alla lettera il messaggio evangelico. Scomunicati dalla Chiesa di Roma nel 1184 furono oggetto di ripetute persecuzioni e massacri. In queste fotografie, riprese in Italia e in Francia, si vedono alcuni luoghi storici e simbolici di questa minoranza religiosa.

The Waldensians

​

The Waldensian cultural movement, named after its founder, merchant from Lyon Peter Waldo, was born and grew popular in the 12th century.

Because of their commitment to a strict adherence to the evangelical message, the Waldensians were declared heretical by the Roman Church and became the target of persecutions and slaughters.

These pictures taken in Italy and in France, feature some of the symbolic places of this religious minority group.
